ADVENTURE

Mussoorie is the only hill station in India which is directly aligned with the great Indo-gigantic plains and where a drastic change in the weather, especially snowfall can be seen soon after coming from the plains. Mussoorie happens to be the gateway of the commencement of the chaar-dhaam yatra of Garhwal as it leads the way to Yamunotri, the first of the chaar-dhaam yatra destinations followed by Gangotri, Kedarnath and Badrinath. Mussoorie also happens to be the access to less explored trekking and camping destinations like the Harkidun meadow and Jaundhar glacier, Rupin pass and the Bhararsar pass Kedarkanta meadow and Ruinsara Lake, Swargarohini peak and Bandarpoonch massif and Naag Tibba. The rivers, like Yamuna and Tons, in the periphery of Mussoorie are the best bet for river rafting on virgin stretches. The Shiva temple at Lakhamandal and the Ashokan Rock edict at Kalsi (both ASI protected sites) are must visit sites for history and archaeology enthusiasts. The neighbouring Jaunpur-Jaunsaar region of Mussoorie is distinctively unique in its mesmerising culture, folklore, attire and cuisine. The region is inhabited by the followers of the Pandavas who still practice rituals and customs of the Pandavas.
